Meet Richard Nelson: LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Month

December 4th, 2008

Richard Nelson of Bartlett, November 2008 LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Month

Meet Richard Nelson, this month’s LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Month.

A full time volunteer, Richard gives his time five days a week, and has put in countless hours during his years of helping others.

“’Super Volunteer’ Richard Nelson “is someone Hanover Township could not do without,” said Township Clerk Mary Joe Imperato.

Whether delivering meals to the homebound in Hanover Township, barbequing for children at the Youth and Family Service picnic, or calling out Bingo numbers at Senior events, Richard does it all.

Richard also gives a minimum of 40 hours per week as the Clerk’s Office Auxiliary Staff Coordinator. Under his leadership, the office’s program has grown to 14 full-time volunteers who assist with clerical work, deliver flyers and help register people to vote in the senior community. His program has been so successful that is has become the standard model for other programs in the township to follow.

“Richard definitely deserves this award for his endless hours of volunteer work and for the kindness he shows when working with the children, seniors and the homebound of Hanover Township,” Imperato said.
